About
I'm Beth Deacon. I set up Beacon Speech and Language Therapy in May 2025, after working in NHS Speech and Language Therapy Services over 22 years. I still work for the NHS as a facilitator for Speech and Language Therapy students on placement in the NHS.

Therapy style
I work with children and the adults who spend time with them. As well as developing the child's speech, language and communication skills, I can also support the adults develop a communication environment that is well matched to the child's communication stage, style and interests.
My style is supportive, flexible, collaborative and responsive. The therapy I offer is child-led, taking into consideration your child's interests, their pace and their way of communicating. Together, we can build on what's already working well for you and your child.
In my 22 years in the NHS, I have worked with over a thousand children from age 1 to 19, in settings such as preschool clinics, primary schools, secondary schools, special schools and units, families' homes.
Evidence based practice
I use approaches that are backed up by evidence. My work is tailored to suit the individual needs of each child and family I work with. Using the latest research and professional guidance, my assessment, therapy and advice is safe, effective, and based on what works. I regularly update my learning and knowledge to make sure I'm offering the best possible support.
